Owl City and Aloe Blacc’s collaboration on feel-good commencement anthem “The Verge” melded the best of the pair’s strengths: Blacc’s rich, soulful vocals and Owl City’s bright and airy electronic melodies. Atlanta-based duo Halogen (real names Josh and Alex) reshape the pop original into a decidedly dance track.
Halogen recently played an early slot at TomorrowWorld’s Future House stage, and have found their niche remixing indie and progressive house originals. There are many layers of texture to appreciate in this remix: a slowed-down piano-driven introduction, clean percussion, synth arpeggios, and harmonizing melodies throughout.
