Ikea’s massive stores are furniture havens for people looking to spruce up their homes for cheaper prices. Unintentionally, the retail giant now doubles as a great place for DIY discount DJ gear as well. A few months ago, DJ Puzzle of Los Angeles demonstrated how to build a sturdy and chic DJ booth out of parts from the store’s furniture items. It turns out Ikea merchandise is also primed to make modular synth cases as well. In a recent post by an Ikea hacker, the author demonstrates how he made a perfectly functional case using three of the company’s Enudden toilet roll holders and a couple metal crossbars. As opposed to the upwards of $150 that one would normally spend on a pre-made case, building one for fewer than $80 out of Ikea parts is quite a steal. Perhaps the next hack we’ll see is an actual synthesizer, who knows?
